The date's 11/11/11, the only 11/11/11 i'll ever get to witness. Couples are expressing their affections for one another, others making fervent wishes for academic success, wealth, fame and what not. As for me, i found this phenomenon intriguing, that a nice looking date equates to a day when wishes made have a higher likelihood of coming true.

Anyway, the academic year is coming to an end and by His grace, i've finally made it to JC2. While i'm excited of what's to come, i'm worried my complacency will follow me into 2012, the year i take my GCE A levels. I realise what is at stake is not merely a certificate, but my future and pride as well, having spent 2 years in JC1. Gah i'll leave the headache till next year.

It's the month of April!

It has been about 2+ months since school started and i guess i'm coping well. My classmates are ALL very friendly and we can easily strike a conversation with topics ranging from football to internet memes to music! Yes it has been enjoyable.

And before you know it, CAs are coming in 2 weeks time. I realise i've set really high expectations unto myself for this CA. afterall, dont they say CAs are the easiest times to score As? And to be honest, i've not scored an A in 2010. I unconsciously put excessive pressure on myself and last sunday i had a mini breakdown. Thank God He spoke to me and in my prayers he granted me peace.

It is easy to ask God to remove an obstacle that he placed before you to test your endurance. But instead of asking God to take away the obstacle, after for extra strength to overcome this obstacle. I believe in 'what doesnt kill you makes you stronger'. November 2010 was a rollercoaster ride. The JC-poly dillema all over again and having to worry how to explain when people ask me why i retained... I thank God he lead to where i am today, and i believe this is part of a magnificent plan he has for me, one beyond man's wildest imaginations. :)

its, 12.50am right now, and i have assignments to complete, but i'll just take a few minutes to update.

Yours truly is in 11A05! They're certainly a different bunch of people as compared to my previous CG 10A06. There are 22 of us, 10(?) of us are guys, so i guess this class is more.... balanced?

I'm coping with my subjects well (i think)! Have been coping well for H2 math and Human geog. H2 econs' kinda simple since i've done it last year. Essay skills and content are reinforced, definitely useful. H1 lit with Miss Yeo's fun! Examining diction and tone can be very interesting.

SYF is in 2 months time, but my choir's, in my opinion, in quite a terrible state, if we're aiming for a gold. We just received a new score last sat which we will sing for SYF as choice piece, the other one being Haec Dies. The year 1s are lost and we cant possibly teach them so many techniques and expect them to master the songs in 2 months, can we? Honestly, it'd be a huge relief if we can even retain our silver. In spite of our dangerous situation, im still glad choir practices arent as intensive as in other jcs contending for GwH, such as MJ.

Happy 2011!

For the past few days i've heard people ask: Why make new year resolutions? You're gonna forget them by February.

Well, not if you treat them seriously! I mean, mankind is always wanting to improve itself. To cut down on bad habits and shortcomings, and to develop good habits and mindset. So, what is a better time to do so than in the beginning of a new year! :)

I'm not the kind of person who makes new year resolutions but i guess i shall make a few this year. I've got nothing to lose, anyway :D

1. to spend lesser time on the computer.
you have no idea how much time i've wasted sitting in front of this damned computer. Once i did my math and realised i spend an average of 6 hours online, doing nothing but youtubing and facebooking. I've always denied being a facebook addict but i admit, i'm one. I visit facebook on a daily (sometimes hourly) basis. I often ask myself why and i couldn't give myself a satisfactory answer. But i still log on to facebook everyday anyway LOL. Recently i thought, if the time spent on facebook were better utilized like to study, what would've happened?
I might have a cleaner room.
I might not have to turn my room upside down to search for missing items.
I might have more friends in school.
I might have promoted to j2.

Technology - blessing or curse? I'd say, a curse, if you lack self control.

2. Minimise procrastination.
If i can completely not procrastinate for even once in 2011 i will throw 100 dollar notes down from my 12th storey HDB unit.
That's why MINIMISE would be a more realistic target for me to achieve.
I'm not a crazy procrastinator who does his homework only 2 weeks after the work's being issued. But i think every single time we procrastinate, we deny ourselves the chance to do something more. Imagine what we can do if we've done our work on the day it's being issued.
More time to revise.
More time to sleep.
More time to facebook. LOL jk.

3. Be less mean.
i expect 2 possible responses.
1st one is: WTH Mark, you're not mean! You're damn nice!
2nd one is: YES I TOTALLY AGREE.

If i were to conduct a survey most of you will choose the second one, right. Sigh, let me quote the lyrics of Marianas Trench from August Burns Red.

As a christian, i am created to be the light of the world. To be a helping hand, to encourage, to comfort. Sadly, i haven't been helping others in 2010, but more of a recipient of help from many people. I've always whined about the cruelty of this world. The despicable means one can employ to achieve their goals. But as i hope for a better world, i often see pride getting the better of me. I look down on people. Confession time.

'Be the change you want to see in this world'. How true is that!
You want more love, you give more love to those around you.
You want to save the earth, start recycling!

Words don't make any impact. Actions do.

That's it, 3 main resolution i hope to achieve in 2011. Looking back, 2010 is, without a doubt, the most difficult year of my 17 years of existence. A new school with a super negative atmosphere, an appeal rejected, bad subject combi, loneliness. Damn, i din see this coming in 2009.
2010 has taught me to open up to people i think i cannot click with. You'll never know what can happen. 2010 taught me a great lesson of the heavy price of laziness and constant procrastination. It taught me to find life directions, or be an aimless boat in the ocean.

It taught me to look to Him.

Today i attended the first service of 2011. The sermon was about surrendering to God. Let him take charge, for he has promised good things for us. A father on earth would not feed his children rocks but delicious bread and fish. Let alone the gracious Father in heaven! I went for altar call praying for guidance and blessings. Tears flow. Such is my desperation for His help, because i am but a mere mortal with limits and shortcomings.

As bad as 2010 may sound, it differentiated the playmates from the genuine buddies i can keep.
I'd like to thank my dmnchoir friends, namely Weichong, Georgina, Iris, Shaun and Sheri for their undying love for me and everyone else in the group. The highlight of every month is our monthly meetup! We get together, chat, share jokes and troubles, and we encourage one another. Precious friends to keep, they are! Also there are my churchmates Joel, Noel, Sihao, Isabel and Doreen who make me excited for church every sunday, with our occasional outings and study sessions :D Siblings in Christ!

I also made many many friends in 2010! In my civics class 10A06 i have approachable classmates like Abbas and Yingxuan who wouldn't hesitate to help me in any manner, from answering queries to lying to the teacher that im sick so i can take my power nap :D Also there's Roxanne, Chesna, Clarissa and Yipoh, my PW group! PW outings are usually fun. Survey Sunday's unforgettable! Really sweet memories i'll never forget. And then there's TPJChoir! Thank you Xiaoli, Gabriel, Ming Le, Mabel, David, Yongjing, Azri, Fiona and many more for the jokes we cracked in choir. Y'all make me wanna go for choir every wed and fri. And then there's Kingsley, Mark, Gillian and Elizabeth who're pretty fun to work with!

i loved this! Clean vocals are epic, as well as that lil' drum solo in the bridge.

9. Oh! - SNSD (Korean pop)
i laughed at Moses for going gaga over korean girls in 2009. The following year i followed his footsteps. Lovely girls, lovely dance moves, lovely song.

8. I'm a Loner - CNBlue (Korean rock)
The WETORIYA song. Before this song i thought Korea would never produce great bands. How wrong was i.

7. Give a Little More - Maroon 5 (Mainstream English Pop)
Maroon 5 released 'Hands All Over' in 2010 and this song is my favourite off the album! Sexy tune. ^^

6. Hoot - SNSD (Korean Pop)
Catchy song! The MV is amazingly gorgeous. :)

5. If I'm James Dean, You're Audrey Hepburn - Sleeping With Sirens (Post Hardcore)
AMAZING VOCALS. The entire song is tight, and the vocalist really expressed the emotions of the song well.

4. Don't Forget - Baek Ji Young (Korean Pop)
How many kpop songs have i featured in this list? Anyway, this song is the OST of drama IRIS, and like the drama, this song is awesome! Esp in the climax when the key is raised.

3. Lucifer - SHINee (Korean Pop)
Catchiest. Song. Ever. Initially i have second thoughts about this song but it does go well with the intended storyline. Best dance moves, i wanna master them one day!

2. Remembering Sunday - All Time Low (Power Pop)
This is an old old song, but i only fell in love with it in 2010. I'm a lover of emotional bridges!

1. Back Burner - August Burns Red (Metalcore)
200 plays in 2 months. The numbers don't lie. Epic breakdowns and riffs. Can never get sick of this song!

Breaking news: Josh and Zac Farro, founding guitarist and drummer for alternative rock band Paramore has left the band.

According to Altpress.com,

The brothers informed the other members a few months ago that their show last Sunday in Orlando would be their last with the band. The statement says, "None of us were really shocked. For the last year it hasn't seemed as if they wanted to be around anymore. We want Josh and Zac to do something that makes them happy and if that isn't here with us, then we support them finding happiness elsewhere."

What a blow for me, a Paramore fan. It is as shocking as The Rev found dead in his apartment last year. Zac's been a great inspiration and role model. Certain beats and fill-ins i use when i serve in church as a drummer are taken from Paramore songs. Their songs are emotional and realistic. They get you up on your feet and makes you wanna punch something and/or someone. Music with passion, totally awesome.

Yet another disappointment in 2010.

December reflections and reminisce

Blogging on my phone for the first time! Hope this turns out alright. Anyway, the past week's been great.
Was at my church's children camp as a helper, 4 days well spent i must say. When to church late on day 1 'cause i overslept. LOL whats new right? Anyway, was expecting to face from H's brutality and wrath but she surprisingly let me off. HENG or what. We then board the bus to Aloha Loyang. It was pouring! Good thing there were tons of umbrellaa there.

Okay i wont blog about the entire camp. But this 4 days gave my mind a break from all the complications i've been facing or anticipate to face. Long hours spent w the children also allowed me to find my inner child again, behaving childlike and all. Childlike okay, not childish. Witnessed politics too. No wonder the saying, wherever there's human beings and authority, there'll be politics. Even in church! Sigh. The church's made up of imperfect human beings too, afterall.

Started on my amath revision today! I've forgotten so much! Good thing its relatively easy for me to pick it up again. Gillian suggest i do a bit of everything and focus on differentiation and integration. Hope amath will keep me busy this winter!

Speaking about winter, its december! Cant help but recall the awesome days i spent in Prague, Czech Republic and Dresden, Germany. Now THAT'S really winter. -6 deg C is no joke! Despite all wrapped up in 5 layers of clothing including a freaking thick winter coat i was still shivering. Prague Christmas Festival was such an unforgettable experience. Imagine singing while your sweat roll down your face, wet all over! Which was really weird since it was snowing out there and the wind blows like a million electric fans. Best intepration for Kasar, how awesome's that! Gold for overall performance. Cried that very moment the announcement was made. I still cannot remember why. Perhaps i knew it'd be the last competition, the last victory i was going to share with the choir i sang in for 4 eventful years, as a participant.

Memorable lessons learnt under Mr Toh BS. i've 100% respect for that man. Self taught musician who works not for achievements but to witness maturity in his students. True inspiration, inspires me to do him proud in tpjchoir :)

Oh and recently i got to know an awesome drummer. He plays for local industrial metal band flawed element and coincidentally, he's my sister's colleague. When to this gig at scape last sat, frigging tight! No wonder they were featured in baybeats 09. They covered Redneck, the entire pit went insane!

Thought i should revive this blog.

Have been doing pretty good these days, ever since the 'you cant promote' bomb dropped from the dean and HODs. But i havent been sleeping well lately. A question keeps me up at night. What next?So its proven that double lit will screw me up. A move to the poly seem, at this point of time, really appealing. But if so, i'd have to go for NS at 20. I guess i should make a pros and cons list for both 'stay in jc' and 'move to poly' sections.

Come to think of it, i think im slightly inclined to the idea of moving to poly. My days in tpjc arent easy. I hardly have any close friends. Abbas had his j2 mates, siti has got aqilah. I often find myself not being myself. Im talkative, pretty outgoing and funloving. But here in tpj i cant wait to go home where it aint awkward to be seen alone.

Its been a while since i last had a friend whom i can text 24/7, last one being a friend whom i later a crush in, whom i later almost got together with and eventually, decided to hate me for life. I like texting. I dont use it to flirt like some guys do. I just enjoy the feeling of having someone to share your joy and sorrows with. Like a human twitter.

I just wanna be happy, you see. People often see me cracking jokes, laughing and all. I guess i was truly happy then. I cant blame the school, no one's to be blamed. I guess i just cant click with people here.

Well, pretty much saw this coming, but it still hurts. Before that i was still holding on to the possibility that i may advance, but poof, it vanished into thin air.

It sucks to retain, everyone knows that. You stay for one more year, you get mocked at (you do, right?), and you're constantly under close monitoring.

But hey, maybe it isnt that bad afterall. My subject combi this year is pure madness. It could be God's plan for something better. Yes, i want to believe it is.

Went for Global Leadership Summit for the past 2 days. Really useful yet entertaining talks.
The most memorable one gotta be 'The land in between'.

So, when Moses led the Israelite out of Egypt and into the Promised Land, they had to go through years in the desert between. In the desert, the land is infertile for agriculture. However, it is fertile for complaints, for rebellion. You can refer to Exodus.

In our lives we are bound to encounter times of transformation, of trail. In times like these, we are bound to complain, wanting to give up. But what lies ahead is the Promised Land, times of triumph, times of victories. This period of trail is the period for us to learn to let go, let God, and trust that he has the best plan.

Timely message! i can complain and whine how God denied me my chance to advance, get depressed and all OR i can trust in the Lord and pull through!

REALITY. it sucks right.

Got back promos marks 2 days back. Din do well for my H2s, H1s are much better.
Got an S for CLL, quite surprised, esp since i've been failing it since CA1.
Got an S for Elit, kinda disappointed, but then again i struggled hard to adapt to lit this year.
Got a freaking U for econs! Total shocker. i've been doing well for econs (i think). Marks range between D and S. This time round i got a 36percent.
For GP i got a D, 53.5%! 3rd in class. really encouraging piece of news, the sole comforting news over the past week.
Maths. sigh. when i did the paper i totally expected a C or even better. turned out i got a D. i know i shouldnt complain, cause people are getting lesser than 30percent but i lost my C to careless mistakes. ARGH its like a disease i contracted since primary school and cant seem to shake it off even till today.

yeah long story short, i did not meet the promotional criteria. found out that my overall year H2 results' ESS. it still doesnt meet the criteria but at least no Us!

to be honest i can have a million complaints about the class. i mean, we're all so different. but i guess as time passes we sorta got used to each other. Dory being talkative, Kyla being narcissistic, Yingxuan shouting 'fan qie' across the classroom, Isaac and his controversial views on human rights.... now that some of us are facing problems promoting it sucks to see the class so worried.

i'll appeal. if not i think i'll just retain. like nadim said, its like hitting the reset button. everything back into its original position.

if answer is no, JC may not be your cup of tea

i forgot i've got a blog.

what? you cannot blame me. afterall, facebook has got everything. photos, videos, updates. but blogging is probably the only way to write longass essays without getting scolded for spamming or being to AA. hahahaha.

June hols are great. only started studying in the 3rd week and its already the 4th week of hols. This month quite a few events took place, but the most memorable one had to be the choir concert-cum-musical performance at VCH. the first half choral pieces were better than i expected. Probably all choirs have the tendency to do a lil bit better on stage. then theres the musical.

the preparation for this performance wasnt easy. at all. i had to go to school every saturday. stay till 7plus every wed and fri, but its all worth it. isnt life always like that? we work, we put in effort, we tear, we bleed, but in the end its all gonna worth it?
gonna miss the J2s. they've always been there for me. Thank you, xiaoli, mingle, moses, gabriel and many other.

oh and i went on an overnight cycling trip on the friday of the first week with my church friends. slept for a bit in the afternoon in case i feel sleepy while cycling. HAHAH. the whole route was rather awesome.
From east coast park we travelled to kallang, then down nicoll highway to the IR (told you it was awesome), then to shenton way and chinatown, then up the highway, all the way to vivo city, where we took a break. after which we pedalled hard to NUS, where we had prata at 3.30am. let's just say its a late late supper. from there we dragged our already physically drained mind and body to Orchard/Dhouby Ghaut area, where Sihao had a great fall, dislocating his collar bone. then we returned to east coast park at 7am, with our thigh muscles aching like nobody's business. But it was a fun trip.

oh and the ongoing world cup has been very disappointing. thank goodness i did not sign up for it. opening games were bad.

then there's the dmnchoir camp. aaaaah, its like my 3rd (?) home. seeing the small sec 1s made me realise how old i am now. argh. and i swear some of them are REALLY small. hahaha. emcee-ed talentnight, but all i did was smile. and of course, say a few words. HAHAH oh well.

this week's supposed to be mugging week. but my usual pre-examination procrastination and over-confidence's back. this is bad.

Oh yeah Limelight series: Dunman Secondary Choir @ Esplanade was a huge success! Relived the moments of singing in a top quality choir. i cannot forget how my legs were trembling the moment i stood on stage for the first 2 songs. Now that the concert's over, no more alumni prac to look forward to, sadly. Luckily the GAGAs agreed to meet up every month to catch up, much to Georgina's pleasure. hahahaha. I miss Dunman.

Almost been a month since i last posted anything here huh! I'll just blog whatever i can remember.

Last thursday, TPJC had a half day for our 'great' A levels results, from 20 straight As students to 35 of them. Attention: we're not talking about percentage here, but number of students. Great, isnt it! Gone were the days when your school had so many smart people around. School ended at 1 instead of the usual 4. But hey, how much diff does it make? On that morning, my sis and mum also went on a 5D4N trip to Taipei!

Went jamming with Sufiyan and Weicheng in the afternoon. Luqman, Nadim and Sihao couldnt make it in the last minute. We came up with 2 originals and attempted Dear Maria by ATL and Paramore's Brick by Boring Brick! One of the songs we made should be up on acebook by now, do check it out.

Next, i rushed to Century Square's Laser Flair to grab 2 flicks for the Movie Marathon i'll be having that night. Pink Panther 2 and My Girlfriend is A Secret Agent. Turned out i gotta pay a whopping 29 bucks, 9 for the rental and 20 for deposit. Had to squeeze out every single penny out of myself to foot th bill. >:(

Then at night there was the Good Friday service. The choir sang Via Dolorosa again, a must-have for Good Friday services but i'd avoid the song if i could cause its soooper sad! Plus the footages from The Passion, my hair stood for 4minute.

Here it is, give it a shot. Of course, this song is wonderfully written and composed. Then there was th holy communion, where they used the mass produced bread and wine, th ones i saw CHC using some time ago.

*fast forward*

Supper with the usual people at Rochor Tao Huey. New songs, rumors and news shared. We then head to Isabel's house for movie marathon! Met Ruth and Moses on the way. Turned out the living room was over crowded cause more than 8 of us were there. Namely LJ, LX, SH, JJ, KQ, WS, JX, Moses , Elsen, myself and ... shit i forgot. Think thats all? Yeah.

First movie was Pink Panther 2, as we wanted to start off the night on a bright note, with the horror flicks coming up next. Being my second time watching it, i could anticipate certain funny parts but i still din see some coming -.- hilarious movie!

Then we watched Alone a thai(?) horror flick. But after i put in the DVD, Z monster won the battle and i KO-ed. First down. Dammit. Heard Disc 2 of the movie was screwed up, so they watched 4bia. Then 'My Girlfriend is a ....' . Woke up at 9plus in the morning, put on my jeans and im on my way home to change, for 4D1 outing!

Bathed, packed and off i go to Vivo, only to know that most of them will be late.

*fast forward*

Reached sentosa! was really boring ttm at first, with only Jingyong and Yinglei the only male companions i had. Played monkey. Stoned. Sandcastles. Things then took a 180deg turn when the mats came. Beach soccer, poker cards, guitar! Then at about 7 plus we went to Vivo for dinner, where i met Isabel to go kachiao Noel at work, and Simin on the way to dinner. Camwhored, as usual. Zzzz...

Sat. Sectionals early in the morning): Headed to Project Aid shortly after! Then go home, do homework lor. At night went to Sihao's to catch the Clash of The Titans - Man U vs Chelsea. Tho Chelsea won, i enjoyed th company and food :D

Sun - MOST FUN DAY OF TH WEEK! Easter service, featuring a short skit by the youths! Well performed, i must say. Then lunch at Da Xia Mian, with Johan, our source of laughter. Then we went to try on the new circle line! Free balloons are (Y) cause we used them as weapons. Then we head to Leisure Park for our first ever coffee session! A large caramel frapp and a butter croissant cost me 10 bucks, good lord. Then we headed home luh.

Okay thats all. School's been great. Just that a friend just got real desperate for girls. Sad.

Finally! The holidays are here!

It's been a very hectic week, especially from thursday onwards.

First up, TPJC'S JC1 EMPOWER! camp.

Prior to the camp, i was totally dreading it. i hated the school, the environment and SOME of the people there. The thought of myself sleeping in there is depressing.

7.30am, i rushed up to the staffroom to pass Ms F the Lit money. Honestly, if not for Ms F, i could've loved literature. Then i rushed back to the parade ground for flag raising. Then there was team building games for us to warm up with. It ended up better than expected. My class was enthusiastic and determined during the games. In one particular game in which all 20 of us were entangled together, i found myself in several awkward positions, much to the amusement of Wally -.-

Then after lunch was mass dance! Mass couple dance, to be exact. Siti was my partner! Song used was Sean Paul's Give it to me. The moves were pretty cool, to be honest.

Then wash up! Bathed in the temporary shower facities the school spent 2k setting up. Found myself naked in front of Abbas and Isaac who were topless as well. It was more of funny than awkward.

Then there was a motivational talk by camp commandant bout JC life. Motivational, it was. But the flame din last. Ooops?

And the next moment i was in my sleeping bag, tossing away. End of day 1.

'eh, Mark, wake up. Mark.' Wally whispered into my ears as he nudges me out of lalaland. Dragged my body out of the sleeping bag and off to brush my teeth. Then breakfast and off we go to pasir ris park!

OK im like so distracted now cause im having 4 convos now and im searching for youtube channels so if i skip anything or have any typo errors please bear with me ah.
Damnit i talk like a bimbo.

Right, where was i. Ok pasir ris park. So we walked ther and had the TPJC challenge, which is more like an amazing race kinda thing. i fed a horse!

Then went back to TPJC, completely exhausted. Soon, i left the camp for choir prac.

DAMMIT I LOVE DUNMAN CHOIR AND DUNMAN ALUMNI CHOIR.

went back to dunman to attend their choir prac, then had dinner with Ms Yeo, Shaun, WC, and Iris. Loads of catching up! Sheri and Georgina came shortly after.

Ms Yeo then brought us to Mr Toh's for alumni prac. WC was oh so hyped up when we were in the car, as if it was a road trip like in the movies. AS IF.

Prac was quite bad, imo. It was back to basics like feeling the music and rhythm again. Then Ms Yeo gave us a ride home too, but she dropped me at Eunos station cause im off to my next destination, church, for a camp!

Saturday morning. All campers grouped into Loved and Precious. I was in Precious, together with Shuqi, Kaiqi, Kailin, Felly, Mavis.

And, for some reason, i felt like doing the bollywood Mrt shit, which was an EPIC FAIL.

Camp ended off well. After the camp went grocery shopping with Joey, Kailin, Isabel, Felly and Xinhui. Kaiqi and Noel all last minute pangseh (Y)

We all then went home. Isabel and i took 31 and sat beside a group of ah beng wannabes. Sigh. They couldnt even differentiate between wine and beer. She then headed to Doreen's place while i walked home.

Yeah, i've not blogged for a while. JC life is hectic, y'know.

School's been, okay. Caught for latecoming TWICE already, one more time and i'm suspended.
I KNOW I STAY ONE STREET AWAY FROM SCHOOL. But things do happen last min. i guess i really do need a potty, like what jamie says. damn.

STILL trying to settle down. i make it a point to hang out with my new friends like OG mates are CG mates but sometimes i find myself with th same ol' people - Nadim, Siti, Nabil, Sarah, Ariff, Qamarul all.

Orientation camp's coming up. dreads it ttm. no handphones, just activities. Thank the heavens im leaving early on day 2 for choral practice with dunman alumni choir.

OH that reminds me.

DUNMAN CHOIR will be having a concert at the esplanade on the 14th of April!
i'll be performing alongside many other ex-dunmanchoir singers. 20 bucks per ticket, but it's worth every single cent!

oh and yeah, after putting in much thought, i've decided to join TPJChoir.

okok its a wednesday evening so its the perfect time to blog!

Chinese New Year - yeah i know, it was boring. How'd i know? i thought likewise. :D

OMG I THINK IT'S RAINING NOW COS I CAN TOTALLY SMELL IT.

k anyway, last friday i had my reunion dinner at some random chinese seafood restaurant at bedok with my paternal relatives. AAAAAAAAAAAAAND the amazing thing is, we din not converse.

AT ALL.

throughout the dinner my sis and i was either facing the rice bowl or facing the dish in the centre. Ok of course occasional glances at my uncles/aunties to see if they're ready for my angpao lah.

then my sister realised something. Mark Lee's wife appeared beside our table. So we were thinking if Mark Lee himself could be nearby. True enough, he appeared in his oh-so-homosexual bag he always carried in 摆家乐, and wearing a top of the same color as mine. sheesh.

then the next day, on the eve of CNY or 除夕, i had my second reunion dinner with my maternal relatives, the side which im closer to, at Sakura buffet restaurant at Downtown East. Became a reluctant witness of how kiasu and ugly (figurative la) Singaporeans can be. Seriously, Kiasu-ness at best! Of course not my relatives lah -.-

yeah thats me with my youngest cousin. Dammit i hate my teeth.

Thats wesley, nik, my elder sister and my 2nd eldest cousin's face being cut off. LOL

then the usual 'happy cny!' messages came. of course i sent mine too.

then came DAY 1 !

had church service in the morning, followed by bainian at my grandma's in the afternoon. didnt do much cos was freaking tired alrd. ( c'mon i woke up at 8am -.-)

went to 2 other houses except my grandma's for bainian. i could've stayed at home but, who won't want an extra income? :D

first day of school, proper! Got to know my class better. Damn, this class is awesome. Almost everyone's so outgoing, except for 2 or 3 who have yet to open up. GP tutorial was fun, my civics tutor totally looks like an ah lian, but she's very knowledgeable! PE was tough ttm! i was literally trembling when i had to be in the push up position for like, 5 - 10 mins? But it's beneficial for me la. Watch out people, im turning smokin' hawt by next year.

Right, so i havent been blogging for ... a week? aaah, busy uh.

JAE's out on wednesday, TPJC is where i'm posted to. Only day 1 and i realised maybe poly education suits me more. Went home all confused and stressed out (call me dumb if you want LOL). Had a chat about it with my parents for a bit and decided to appeal for NP's Advertising and Public Relations, where my interest lies. 2nd appeal choice's TP's HTM, so i'm Li Lian's potential coursemate. HAHAHA.

Orientation ends on fri, lectures began this week. But looking at my timetable, i spent, spend, and will spend more time playing soccer than sleeping in lecture halls. I only have like, 2 lectures a day and the rest of the time are spent playing dai di, soccer, surfing free wifi or simply stoning at the canteen. The lectures are introductory lectures to introduce us to the subjects we took up. For me, its H2 Econs, China studies (shut up), and chinese lit and H1 maths.

I'm in orientation group 27, or OG27! Awesome group of people. New friends are made, of course. There's Sid from VS, Kai Yuan from TMS, Aloysius from CCH ... to many to list la! and some not from my OG, we met through soccer. Hahahah. Er, Haziq from TPSS, Jian Hsien from Nan Chiau, Khristen from VS .... alot lah.

Soccer trials today! Went with Jian Hsien (or JH) and Nadim. Had 4 rounds of warm up jogging around the field, which almost took my life. Then resting followed by a series of warmups like those we did when we had P.E in Dunman *choke*, so much *choke* fun ... *sniff*
I signed up as midfielder, a decision which i totally regreted after the trials since im a better finisher than a playmaker, but, oh well. Had a practice match. Mistakes are committed, inevitably, but i also have my fair share of imba through balls, beautiful cut-ins and intelligent positioning. Bloody team mate was a soloist, so din get in uh. But i admit im too small and too weak uh.

Made 2 friends in gunbound today, one's from Canada, another from Mexico. Man, they sure have got a life man. Both are 20 and has got wasted for uncountable times. The week has been awesome but since i don't have the capability of writing long ass blog posts like this, i shall just keep things short and sweet, with the help of some photos.

Right. Monday we had O4TH, which stands for Outing for The Happening. Its kinda like a part 2 of the C4TH, where 'C' stands for chalet. The easterners agreed to meet up at Simei MRT platform at 11.30am but we all knew someone's gonna be late. Left the platform at 12pm (?) once Rabbani arrived. Everyone gathered at vivo city and took the Sentosa Express to Sentosa. I mean, where else?

ok then we arrived. Some of us were hungry/thirsty so we went to 7-11 to get our stuff.

Then after walking for quite a bit we settled down on a spot on Siloso beach. Spread out the mats (as in picnic carpet, not matreps) and everyone started eating!

And then we sang Happy Birthday for Nadim, Rabbani and Yunus and presented them their presents. Yunus and Nadim got a ZINC bag each, and Rab a tee.

And then there was the guitaring and sand sculpting session. -.-

Then its time for prayers! The guys went for wash up, leaving me and Siti behind so, camwhore!

Once the boys are done, its foooooooooooooootie time!

We got tired and bruised after a while. The sand was freaking rough and each time you execute a pass or try to shoot, the sand particles stuck on the ball scars you. Yes, i have scars on my foot.

Then rabbani, nabil and i went on our little quest. shant elaborate on that.

Then we played Babi level one and another matching game! Had a hell lot of fun. Played till like 6plus. The guys went for prayers again. Packed up, and back to vivocity. Group photo, dinner then home.

Had soccer with the usual soccer clique today. Played with a group of outsiders who appeared to be NSmen. Their immature behavior and excessive usage of vulgarities made me ponder.

Is the use of vulgarities really necessary in National Service?

Firstly, NS is a duty for all Singaporean citizens. Therefore, it is indirectly conducted by the government to train our young ones into emotionally and physically strong individuals, a group of capable future leaders that the government can rely on. So, if the instructors/superiors/whatevers use vulgarities to train the NSmen, what does it show about our government? It only shows that our government are not capable of coming up with a fantastic set of plan and have to resort to vulgarities to get our NSmen to carry out the activities obediently.

Secondly, schools all over Singapore forbid their students to use vulgarities. This is to prevent our young ones to be exposed to explicit language, in order to maintain their innocence and purity. In contrary, NS superiors use them more than they use anything else. Isn't that a huge, huge contradiction between the ministry of education and ministry of defence?

Thirdly, though NS is for male citizens aged 18, the maturity levels across the batch vary. Some can handle such language well, but some can't. For example, the people whom i played with used vulgarities each time they opened their filthy mouths. Apparently they couldn't handle the excessive use of vulgarities in their camps well, thus being influenced in using them as well. Once they step into the society, with their inappropriate behavior and language, what would the foreign workers/investors think about us Singaporeans? They'd probably think ALL of us are of the same kind, crude and uncultured.

So, is the usage of vulgarities in National Service really necessary? You decide.

Went to Sandra's place on mon to celebrate Sandra's birthday with SWRAAAR and Marc. We did only one thing. Watch twilight. Then went to TM to catch New Moon. Cool or what? No choice uh, a promise is a promise. Went to KFC to eat afterwards. From there, met nicole to go to Auntie Limin's place for gathering. Basket, kena zhen-ed. :/

Jammed with Sufiyan, Nadim, Jovan, Amri, Shuqi yesterday at club paradise. i must say, th drumset in the red room is the best i've used for th past 2 years! Kinda like the Truth drumset Underoath, Paramore uses. The crashes had th best sound ever, like those cobus used. And th snare, clean and firm sound. The toms are also perfectly positioned for drummers to perform rolls easily. Its so OMGish, no joke. We did critical acclaim, bat country, guys like you make us look bad, stick stickly, sugar we're going down, face down and a few more songs la.

Went TM to walk walk uh, with nadim and sufiyan. Met Doreen, Gillian and a friend of theirs there. Sandra was there to get her twilight saga books, but nvr meet uh. How i know? Text uh.

Updates! Again.

Firstly, as i've mentioned before, we had the Pure Sciences (white) VS Combined Sciences (red) match at Safra Tampines. Yes, it rained, but we played only when the rain stopped and the lightning sensors went off. We had supporters! Thanks Shurz, Li Lian, Cherie, Zai Yong, Weichong and many more for dropping by to support!

We employed a classic 4-4-2 formation, with hakeem between the sticks, Shaun, Sufiyan and Ameerul being our midfield generals, Fauzan our defence triumph card, and of course Zul and i as the strikers. The match began, and the Pures immediately controled the game, though it was the Reds who drew first blood. Shaun takes a shot from the edge of the box, only to be denied by Pure keeper Yi Kai, Mark stepped up to tap in the loose ball into the empty net. 1-0! The Pures, with their elite attacking squad, bounced back minutes later, due to some slack defending by the Combs. Just before half time, Darren let out a dangerous strike with his outer right foot just outside the penalty box, and it got past hakeem and into the net. Despite the goal, Hakeem put up a commendable performance, saving several shots which were fated for the net.

Half time, score line is Pure 2: Comb 1

Second half started with some slight changes in the red side. Ameerul and Zul takes the front line, while Mark moves to the right wing. This strategical change proved futile as the Pures scored a third to put the match beyond doubt. The Combs saw a glimpse of hope when Mark scores yet another goal to put the score line 3 -2. However, Darren of the Pures sentenced the Combs to death with a strike deep in the second half, again, due to slack defending from newly substituted defenders Rabbani and Kanghao. Still, if not for them, the scoreline would have been more unbearable to see.

Prom night 2009 : A night to remember.

Had choir in the morning, glad that basses are improving.

Went home, had a game of fifa with shaun. I used United, while he used Arsenal. It was probably my longest match ever, 9 minutes per half!

It was a close match, though Shaun dominated. I lost 6-7. :((((((((((((

At around 4, it started to rain very badly. I went to bathe and got out of house. Damn, the attention i received made me so damn uneasy. Met up with the rest at Simei MRT and we took train to Orchard. Yes, train.

Came out of Orchard station, we walked to York Hotel.

Good food, good entertainment. Just too bad i could sit with the matreps, quite sian. But, oh well.
Then when the dancefloor was open to us, we all just went mad! Tectonik, Robo, Shuffle, Crowd surfing.... damn crazy! We all lost ourselves in there.

Alright, let's get moving.. As u have read in my soft posting, you need to purchase 10 tix from us at $4 each and it has to be upfront. Payment = confirmation and i'll put ur band in the line ups. I'm doing this cos for my last gigs, some bands backed out the very last minute without paying anything.

How different are we from P2P (Pay to Play) gig organizers?

a) We only require you to buy 10 tix from us. Others usually need 20 tix purchases.

b) the ticket price is very cheap

c) We let you keep the profits. You buy at $4, sell at $6 as listed on the tix. Other organizers dun let u earn anything.

d) We let you have a warm up jam session before your performing slots (subject to availability of rooms)

Ok, to confirm your slots in this gig, you have to make upfront payments of $40 for the 10 tix. From last gig experience, it was quite troublesome for the bands to come down and make payment.

As such, bands can do a bank transfer to POSB SAVINGS ACCOUNT 401-57797-1.

I will update you when the tix are ready for collection.

This is my interpretation, it may not be what TDWP intended it to mean. But, here it is

Just went to sihao's place to watch th manchester derby. it was already 1-1 when i arrived.

Just 3 minutes into the second half, goal by fletcher! Giggsy crosses from outside th penalty box, and fletcher was first to beat shay given with his head. (2:1)

Soon, and i mean very soon, craig bellamy equalised, with a decent shot from outside th penalty box with his right foot into the top right corner. (2:2)

And then in th 80th, fletch scores again, this time, again, a header. (3:2)

However, just when th first 90 minutes was about to end, Craig Bellamy scores, this time due to an error by United keeper Ben Foster, who failed to cover up th near post. (3:3)

Ref indicated 4 minutes of added time, with an additional 30 seconds due to substitution.

Just when City looked to be going home with a point, just when United is about to give up, just when th match is about to end,

Giggsy delivered an amazing pass to Owen, who calmly slots it to th right bottom corner. That was in the 96th minute. And City manager Mark Hughes was apparently fuming with anger.

Cross Country was bad man. Really shouldnt have went. Woke up at 6.20am, met up with Nabil at TPJC bus stop and took 21. We were late when we arrived, but we dont really care. :O

Nabil, Rabbani and i were not allowed to run cus Nabil was in jeans, i was in pants beyond knee length and Rab in sch uniform pants. In the end, we walked from th finish line and halfway through we walked back. Then squated for 1 plus hrs until dismissal.

Alright, so i went to get my career guidance clothes on thursday, together with nabil, rabbani, sufiyan and fauzan. bernice joined us after her oral. She said she enjoyed herself cus the matreps and i make a good gay group with similar sense of humor, with everyone on th same frequency, always ready to make a comment good enough to send one ROFL-ing.

got myself a G2000 top and pants, which both cost at $23 each. Yup, total $46. Goodbuy, ya have ta say. cos, cmon, its G2K manz.

Today, da big day. kay not really. meet up with th matreps to go to sch together. like that not so malu what. nice to see classmates i thought i'll never live to see them in formal dressing to be dressed up. (Y)

Message from M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold.

Hello everyone -
I realize that with the last record we stayed away from personally updating you guys with loads of information about how we were doing and about how the tours were going. We stayed away from doing too many interviews, radio and T.V. spots, trying not to overexpose ourselves. Not seeing ourselves everywhere and hearing about stupid shit we've said has generally made us happier people, much unlike the "City of Evil" record cycle. But I feel in doing so we have stopped communicating with the people that truly care about this band, the fans. So I'm gonna try to make these updates a little more frequently.

First I wanna say we had a great time touring this record. From the first tour in clubs, to headlining "Taste of Chaos", to going out with Iron Maiden in Europe, to finishing it up with Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Burn Halo, Shinedown, Saving Abel and Rev Theory. We've made some great new friends and just had a great time playing to you guys every night. Rock on the Range and opening for Metallica in Mexico City were just added bonuses. We are gonna start rehearsing here in a couple days to get ready for Sonisphere over in the U.K and Ireland. We are looking forward to that.

We have been relaxing after almost 20 months of straight touring, but we have also been throwing around a lot of ideas for the new album. I think after we get back from the U.K. we will be able to fully get into this writing process. I'd hate to say more and start speculation and rumors this early in the process so thats all I'll say about the album. Time flies and you'll have a new record on your ipod before you know it, so be patient.

Since we've been home I've been working on a song with Slash for his solo album. It's a killer track and he plays some of the most technical stuff I've ever heard from him.
But since it's his record and not mine, more updates will have to come from him. "Waking the Fallen" went gold today and though we don't talk about record sales much, this feels like a huge accomplishment. That record sold 3,000 copies the first week and is now well over 500,000 copies. In a day when music is virtually free, its a huge testament to the fans we have and the dedication they have given us for 10 years. Thanks guys and girls, we look forward to 10 more!

Wow i had a weird night.

This weekend is God's weekend manz.

In th morning had my haircut. Its so short now i'm almost bald.

Headed down to expo to meet up with my churchmates to attend Hillsongs' workshops. The Hillsong United team are actually very cool people! Whats cooler is that they emphasize a lot on the nurturing of younger musicians. :D

The place was so freaking crowded! Freaking cool to see thousands of christians flooding into the place for one sole purpose.

There are many new songs that are so effing nice! Shucks i sound like isabel. They are from their latest album Tear Down The Walls.

The sermon by Pastor Judas Smith (not judas priest) was really interesting too, yet it made sense. All the sins that we've committed in our lives has made us think that we are condemned. hopeless. But no, the casket is not closed yet. Ask for forgiveness, and you will be! Be where you are supposed to be, at the authority, at the high posts. Ok enough preaching.

Whoa, it has been a week since i've blogged, hah, that shows that i am REALLY busy eh.

Have been staying in school till 6, 7 these days. Thursday was damn sick,

8am to 2.05 - usual lessons.
2.05 to 3 - chemistry
3 to 4.30 - biology.

Sick right, its th first time for me, and for someone who gets hungry easily, thats hell.

Eh, doesn't mean that im skinny, i don eat a lot ok?

Ms Lim has been admitted to hospital, so Ms Yeo's gonna replace her for 2 weeks.

Has been reading a book called The Curious Incident Of The Dog in the Night Time.

It's a great book, i recommend it to anyone who doesn't wish to read super wordy books with a whole lot of descriptive phrases. This book is simple yet it conveys the message to its reader really clearly. In the beginning, when you first read this book it may sound kinda crappy, with all the simple english and some vulgarities. BUT, as you read on you will realise its more than a boy trying to solve a mystery. Read it yourself to find out what it is. It's available in all graduating class library i think, cause i got it from mine.

TYS-es are arriving one by one. Gonna drown my self with books and notes, for my future.

To do my best and not have any regrets in the future!

Ok, on saturday had to go to church early in the morning to help my dad play the drums. Then slacked with linjing at 4th floor until 2pm for my children service prac. We slept, played the guitar, air-drumed, screamo-ed.

After children prac, met Rubberllica to jam. I brought linjing along too. Corefest must be really hardcore. We jammed at Club Paradise studio. First time there leh! The owner's a christian, cos there're christian stuff EVERYWHERE. Then after that had dinner at T3. Crystal Jade. Lol. Their fried rice tasted like the one sold at the kopitiam la!! Just that one costs 4 dollars, th other 12 dollars. T.T

Sunday. Wa this one cannot dont tell. Played soccer with Jason's friends. NS men ok! Scored 3, should have scored 5 la, but whatever. Had a really great time playing man! My partnership with Chengyi and Sihao was just stunning. My messi-like header was probably the goal of the day. Hahahah!

Came home today and a random thought came into my mind, which is to pick up that guitar in my room and start learning something.

And so i picked it up and went on to youtube to learn 'Sugar, We're Going Down' by Falloutboy since i've learnt the intro alr. I'll stick to rhythm guitar parts for now, hahaha!
